Open Data for Living Cities: How City-Wide Feasibility Studies Drive Net Zero & LBC Policy and Practice

Oregon Convention Center: Room 204
Track: Zero Energy

Leading city governments are already taking action to promote Living Building Challenge and net zero projects through zoning and building code incentives. Yet these programs often force policymakers and designers to make a leap of faith without knowing whether those targets are within reach. This session explores two examples of community-led open data mapping projects in the Cascadia bio-region that reveal LBC feasibility on a city-wide scale in support of local policy advancement. The study authors will share how open data is already shifting the discussion and propose a common framework to accelerate LBC/Net Zero policy across North America.
