The Battle of the Bios: Leading to Regenerative Design

Oregon Convention Center: Room C123-C124
Track: Biomimicry + Biophilia

From Bioclimatic to Biophilic and Biomimetic design, the landscape of design today is being defined byevolving strategies in “Nature Based Design”. To make sense of these distinct but complimentaryprocesses, this interactive panel featuring leaders from HOK, ILFI and B3.8 will illustrate how eachmethodology is applied, the value it brings to clients and inhabitants, and how overarching benefits maylead towards regenerative buildings. Central to this session is Genius of Biome thinking: how HOK andB3.8’s forthcoming publication on California’s Coast analyzed organisms and ecosystems of the mostbio-diverse region in America to emulate nature’s patterns and services.
