David Eisenberg co-founded and leads the non-profit Development Center for Appropriate Technology (DCAT) in Tucson, Arizona. His over three decades of alternative and code-busting building projects led to an effort to create a sustainable context for building regulation. A former two-term member of the U.S. Green Building Council Board of Directors, he founded and chaired the USGBC Code Committee. He served on the International Code Council Committee creating the first draft of the ICC’s International Green Construction (IGCC). Recent work includes supporting the development of tribal green building codes and related resources for tribes. David was principal author for “Code, Regulatory and System Barriers Affecting Living Building Projects” in 2009, and has been faculty for the EMERGE Leadership Project since its first workshop in 2012.
