Denise is a passionate thinker, educator, and practitioner in biomimicry, biomimetics, and business inspired by nature. Denise combines her grounding in engineering with her vision of a living future to bring pragmatic approaches to innovative thinkers, and bring innovative thinking to pragmatic problem-solvers. As Education Director at the Institute, Denise focuses on finding engaging ways to empower and equip individuals and teams with the knowledge, skills, and understanding professionals they need to help create a living future.

Before joining ILFI, Denise ran her own sustainable resource consulting business, was Outreach Director for The Biomimicry Institute, and was Project Lead for Swedish Biomimetics 3000.

In addition to working with ILFI, Denise is an adjunct faculty at Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) where she teaches two online courses, Creative Leadership and Biomimetic Design, as part of MCAD’s online Master of Arts in Sustainable Design program. As Co-Director of BCI: Biomimicry for Creative Innovation, Denise offers live and online courses and workshops in biomimicry and business inspired by nature. Denise is author of the book Re-Aligning with Nature: Ecological Thinking for Radical Innovation.
