Jason’s practice focuses on the intersection between social and energy systems in the built environment. At the University of British Columbia, his award winning research on bottom-up informal urbanism led to an investigation for an urban ruleset based on fostering mutual beneficial negotiations between neighbors. As a former mechanical engineer, he specialized in community energy planning and district energy systems. Throughout his professional careers, Jason has valued local and global social and professional activism, voluntarily designing housing, educational institutions, and a biogas plant in East Africa and India.
