Track: Case Studies
The Yellowstone Youth Campus did not begin as a Living Building; in fact, it wasn’t until more than halfway through the design phase that the National Park Service fully committed to a Living Building goal. It was through an intense and collaborative process that the project team – including architects, consultants, the National Park Service, the non-profit Yellowstone Forever, and corporate partners – determined that Living Building certification was not just the appropriate direction for the project, but essential to a successful outcome for all stakeholders. The project will soon break ground and will be the first Certified Living Building in a National Park. The session will include approaches to pushing past initial environmental goals, the value of connecting design decisions to organizational missions, and leveraging partnerships, and will engage attendees in a collaborative discussion on Living Buildings as tools for marketing and fundraising.
